Red Meat Does Not Increase Heart Disease Risk, Processed Meat Does
The new food pyramid puts red meat at the very bottom, as an undesirable food. The “politically correct” view is that red meat is dangerous because it is loaded with cholesterol and saturated fat. The “experts” even cite some studies that seem to link red meat with increased risk of heart disease, strokes, and cancer.
The good news is that none of that is true. As I wrote in another article called Red Meat is Good for Heart, Does not Cause Heart Disease or Stroke, red meat is a great source of many important nutrients and is generally very beneficial. It not only provides the best quality proteins, but also zinc, B vitamins, coenzyme Q10, trace minerals and other vital elements.
I also pointed out that it is not red meat, but processed meats that are responsible for health problems. A study presented at the annual American Heart Association conference in March 2010 confirmed everything I was telling you about. Harvard researchers have analyzed data from 20 studies with more than 1.2 million participants.
Woman’s Day Magazine
Woman’s Day Magazine is focused on the average woman. This magazine was created for the everyday woman. It was made for the mid western mom who spends most days driving kids to school and sporting events who is always thinking about what to make for dinner that night, not the single executive who has never actually cooked anything before and whose biggest concern is how to get the new Gucci bag that is hot this season.
Woman’s Day magazine may not have the latest fashions or the biggest celebrity news, but it does cover the issues that the average woman is dealing with trying to balance a career, a home and a family.
Features in the Magazine
Woman’s Day is published each month. It can be found at grocery stores, drug stores, discount stores and some department stores. The cover usually features food made from a recipe found inside that issue. The main features in the magazine include cleaning tips, health news, weight loss news, recipes and fast dinner ideas, makeup tips and budget friendly tips and articles.
Health Insurance and Federalism – What You Need to Know
To say health care and insurance has been in the news lately would be a minor understatement. The subject of reform has led to reactions ranging from its about time to its a socialist move. One aspect of the situation that is not really being discussed is an issue of federalism and it is important because it reflects a bigger trend.
What is federalism? It is simply a political structure in which there is a central political group and surrounding smaller groups. In the United States, this takes the form of the federal government and the individual states. The biggest issue in federalism is who has the power.
In a country like Switzerland, the central federal government has very little power at all. In the United States, the opposite is the case but states are starting to contest this and the healthcare debate shows us a perfect example.
